How you travel to school can have many
environmental, social and health impacts.
Walking or cycling safely to school can cut down on
accidents and be great for our health.
Too many cars on the road can lead to traffic congestion and
large amounts of pollution. This can affect our health
and climate change.
If your school decides to concentrate on transport as an
Eco-Schools theme, you could consider taking part in one of the
following projects:
- carrying out local traffic-flow surveys
- carrying out air-quality or noise surveys
- mapping safe routes to your school
- organising walking buses
- promoting road safety awareness among pupils
