The amount of energy the world uses every day has
trebled over the past century.
We are burning more and more fossil fuels in our power stations
to keep up with this growing demand to heat and light our homes and
power our industries.
This uses up limited resources and releases
increasing amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere
leading to global climate change.
Unfortunately, only a small amount of our energy is
produced from renewable or green sources which produce less
emissions and are less harmful to our environment.
As part of the Eco-Schools
Programme we want to help schools and pupils in North
Somerset reduce the energy they use.
If your school decides to concentrate on energy as an
Eco-Schools theme, these organisations might be able to help:
We can help schools carry out a free survey to identify how
energy can be used more efficiently and monitor its usage and
advise on renewable energy, equipment and controls.
