Curriculum Support and Enrichment
Programmes raise the standard of musical achievement in North
Somerset schools through particular emphasis on the Primary
Phase and Special Schools.
Through training, advice, classroom support and the provision of
a range of activities we support teachers in the delivery of
the Music Curriculum.
Although both Programmes are closely related, they meet the
needs of schools from two different directions; one via teacher
support and the other through the direct provision of activities
for young people.
The
Curriculum Support Programme focuses on helping teachers in
schools to deliver the music requirements of the National
Curriculum, through courses, training, advice and leading projects
that enable schools to work together in order to provide the best
musical experiences for their pupils
The
Curriculum Enrichment Programme whilst closely related is
focused on direct delivery to pupils, to ensure that young people
get a full and broad musical experience. This is achieved
through Culturally Unique Workshops, Gifted & Talented
Projects, ICT Workshops, Festivals, Shows and seasonal events.
In addition to the above Programmes the North Somerset Wider
Opportunities Programme provides all children at key stage 2 with
at least one year of free whole class instrumental tuition and in
many cases the use of an instrument free of charge during their
participation in the Programme.
