Junior ensembles

North Somerset Centre for Young Musicians (NSCYM) runs several junior ensembles.

The following junior ensembles meet in Backwell Secondary School on a Saturday morning from 9.30am to 12:10pm. You can find the venue using our Interactive map.

Progression from the junior to senior ensembles is based on attainment and ability rather than age. Each ensemble gives at least two performances each year although many of the senior groups perform more regularly.

There are several junior ensembles:

Junior String Orchestra - A string orchestra for players from pre Grade 1 to Grade 2 standard.

Intermediate String Orchestra - A string orchestra for players of Grades 3 - 5 standard.

Junior Full Orchestra - For players of Grades 1 - 2 standards.

Intermediate Full Orchestra - For palyers of Grades 3 - 5 standard.

Junior Wind Band - For woodwind, brass and percussion players of Grades 1 - 2 standard.

Intermediate Wind Band - For woodwind, brass and percussion players of Grades 3 - 5 standard.

 

The following junior ensembles meet in Castle Batch Primary School, Rawlins Avenue, Worle on a Thursday evening.

Tutti Orchestra - 4:45 - 5:45 - An orchestra for players of Grades 1 - 4.

Next Step Band - 4:45 - 5:45 - The band for children that learn or learned instruments in whole classes at Primary School.  Includes Violin, Trumpet, Eb Clarinet and Recorder.

Theory Lessons - 6:00 - 7:00 - Theory is fun! This is free if you attend one of the other groups, otherwise the same price as an ensemble.
