Thousands of young people receive instrumental and vocal
lessons each week in schools.
The Music Service will offer every North Somerset school 3
terms (15 sessions per class in the nominated year group) of free
whole class instrumental tuition during the 2011-2012 academic
year. This will be delivered by a Music Service teacher
alongside the regular class teacher.
This experience may be increased for a whole year at a cost
£435.00 per class. There are also further continuation
options available. Please contact the
Music
service for more information.
All other instrumental and vocal tuition is delivered to
individuals or groups of up to four pupils. Schools pay the
Music Service for providing the teachers and then generally pass
the cost onto pupils. Each school has its own charging policy
and therefore fees for instrumental lessons will vary between
schools.
The charge made to schools by the Music Service for this
tuition is presently the lowest in the South West of England, and
there is an enhanced provision for Gifted and Talented young
musicians.
To encourage as many young people as possible to embrace the
opportunity to learn to play an instrument the Music Service
operates a low cost Instrument Hire Programme and can also help and
advise with instrument purchase.
