The annual governors' conference took place on
Saturday 15 October at St Katherines School in
Pill.
It proved to be a very successful event with around 80 governors
in attendance. Entitled 'Holding Your School to Account', it
examined how governing bodies hold their school to account, and
what more can be done to strengthen practices. Delegates took
part in lively discussions and many examples of excellent practice
were shared.
The event was facilitated by David Marriott, an education
consultant specialising in governance and school leadership,
and those in attendance contributed to a practical guide for
governors which will be distributed at a later date. Sheila
Smith, Director of Children and Young Peoples' Services was also in
attendance.
St Katherine's School were wonderful hosts and the governors had
the opportunity of sampling the excellent cuisine cooked and served
by students who were fantastic ambassadors for their school.
