We are committed to improving attendance and the
achievement of pupils in North Somerset schools.
Our officers work closely with schools, parents and
children to help minimise cases of truancy and to address
attendance problems.
We also work in partnership with
the police to
interview children in public places during school hours and talk to
their parents to find out the reasons for any absence.
If your child has been excluded from school we can provide you
with support and advice.
The Education Welfare Officer linked to your child's school can
visit you to discuss any concerns you may have about your child and
help ensure appropriate support is available regarding their
education.
