independent from local authority control, they are directly funded
by central government.

admissions, in year changes and the transfer of pupils between

School Meals
School
meals are an important part of the school day. 60 out of
our 74 schools make home cooked food on site, cooked on the day,
for the day.
Any child attending a North Somerset school whose parents
or carers are on certain benefits could be entitled to

Governors
We provide support for governors, governing bodies, schools and
senior school managers.
Home to School Transport
The School Admissions and Transport Team are responsible
for the transport between home and school for about 3000
eligible pupils and 200 fare-paying pupils who travel on more than
150 routes.

Music service
Our Music
service supports schools with the musical experiences they
deliver and provides young people with a range of opportunities and
tuition, which is affordable as well as being of a very high
quality.
Complaints
For pupils who attend local authority maintained schools the
complaints policy guidance is available to download.
For pupils who attend Academies and Further Education colleges
the Education Funding Agency have produced
the Procedure for dealing with complaints about

Strategic schools forum
The
Strategic Schools
Forum is a statutory body which must be consulted on a wide
range of issues. These include schools and early years funding
formula, contracts for supplies and services as well as
arrangements for special educational needs, the use of pupil
referral units and education other than at school.
