Vulnerable Learners' Service

The Vulnerable Learners’ Service (VLS) provides a wide range of options to ensure that schools, early years settings and other providers are supported effectively to enable positive outcomes for the most vulnerable children and young people.

Benefits of service

The work of the service focuses on helping schools and EY settings achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people in the following groups:

  • SEN and or disability
  • Social emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Looked after children and children on the child protection register
  • Travellers
  • Ethnic minorities
  • Sensory difficulties

We have produced a guide of services called 'We Can' (pdf, Jan 2011, 1072KB) for parents and carers of children and young people aged 0 -19 with additional needs in North Somerset.
