We provide a range of services supporting the
education of children and young people in North
Somerset.
The main aim of these services is to support children and young
people in attending school and make sure they gain the maximum
benefit from their education.
The services and support range from dealing with exclusions and
truancy to special educational needs and teaching children who for
various reasons are unable to attend mainstream schools.
There are various teams of experts that can help with issues
such as child psychology, behavioural issues and sensory
impairment. Professional advice is available for schools and
families who are working with children with special educational
needs.
We are responsible for providing education to the children of
travellers who have settled in North Somerset and we also work with
several of our neighbouring local authorities to help raise the
achievement levels of black and minority ethnic pupils.
We also provide guidance for schools on how best to deal with
incidents or emergencies. |
