Extended schools provide child care, before and
after school activities, parental support, specialist support for
children and community facilities.
These services are part of the Government's
Every Child Matters
programme, which aims to improve the well-being and opportunities
of children and young people.

Voluntary aided or voluntary controlled church schools must
discuss matters with their diocese. The Diocese of Bath and Wells
has produced its own
Church Schools Toolkit for advice and guidelines.
