A learning platform is an umbrella term describing
a broad range of ICT systems used to deliver and support
learning.
They bring together hardware, software and supporting services
to enable more effective ways of working inside and outside the
classroom, centre or institution.
Virtually all schools have networked, broadband access enabling
pupils and teachers to access information and resources within the
school.
The challenge now is to extend this to offer external access to
learning resources, online storage and communication and management
tools through a learning platform.
Learning platforms also offer the foundation to allow the
integration of Virtual Learning Environments (VLE) and Management
Information Systems (MIS).
