We want children, young people and families to have the
support they need when and where they need it.
We aim for every child, whatever their background or
circumstances, to have the support they need to achieve well-being
based on five positive targets called outcomes.
This means we will share information and work together to
protect children and young people from harm and to help them
achieve what they want in life.
Practitioners work closely together in multi-agency teams to
provide joined up services for children, young people and families.
Within these teams there are people from a wide range of services
who can help with health education, early years and family
issues..
Children’s Social Services is now known as Children’s Social
Care, some of the staff from Social Care also offer more specialist
services.
There is a multi-agency team for children with complex
additional needs (for example, children with learning and/or
physical disabilities), one for children who are looked after and
an adoption and fostering team.
We have produced a guide of services called
'We Can' guide (pdf, Jan 2011, 1072KB)
for parents and carers of children and young people aged 0 -19
with additional needs in North Somerset.
Young people can also get support from
Connexions.
