The Stronger Communities team is part of the Safer and
Stronger Communities group which works to build resilient
communities with strong social networks and active citizens taking
responsibility for their own well-being.
One of the most important elements of community involvement is
being able to influence decisions that affect the way people live.
We can signpost training for community researchers. This helps
develop the skills needed to find out what a community wants to
change and how to go about effecting that change.
We also support the local infrastructure organisation
Voluntary Action North
Somerset (VANS). They work with local groups and individuals to
offer advice on a variety of issues such as volunteering,
funding and training. You can sign up for their funding
ebulletin which has details of the latest funding
opportunities.
The voluntary and community sector (civil society) is critical
in helping us to achieve the aims of our
Corporate Plan and meet the priorities of the
Local Area Agreement. We aim to work within the framework of
the
North Somerset Compact Agreement.
