We encourage people to work together for the benefit of
their communities and influence decision making at local
levels.
Community involvement can take many forms including:
- providing people with opportunities to influence or directly
participate in decision making
- providing feedback on decisions, services, policies and
outcomes
working with authorities in designing policies and services
- co-producing or carrying out some aspects of services
themselves
- working with the authority in assessing services
What
do we do to encourage community involvement?
From time to time we offer training
opportunities for the benefit of local residents interested in
improving their communities and there are many
community meetings (pdf, Jan 12,
80KB) that take place in the Weston-super-Mare
area.
To make sure that we do as much as possible to engage
effectively with the people who use our services, we have drawn up
the Community Engagement Toolkit (pdf, Dec
10, 217KB) for use by everyone involved.
