In partnership with the police and other organisations
we aim to help build safer communities across North
Somerset.
We control and monitor the 73 cameras which make up the
district's closed
circuit television (CCTV) network which helps prevent
crime and increase safety 24-hours a day.
There is also a widely recognised link betwen our
environment and crime and we have produced a strategy
for
designing out crime as part of our Local Plan.
We are aiming to make the district feel safer and more
secure by addressing local concerns about crime, drugs and disorder
through our
Safer and Stronger North Somerset Partnership Plan
2009/10.
We also run
an
Emergency Contact Answering Service (ECAS) for
residents which handles any emergencies outside normal
working hours.
Through our
Youth Offending Team we also help prevent offences by
children and young people through this multi-agency team.
