We investigate complaints about excessive noise and can take action if the noise is considered to be a nuisance.
We have to prove the noise is prejudicial to health or is causing an unreasonable and persistent disturbance to your lifestyle before we can class it as anti-social behaviour.
There are a number of different sources of noise pollution including neighbourhood noise, commercial noise, aircraft noise and barking dogs.
For further information about noise pollution contact the environmental protection charity National Society for Clean Air and Environmental Protection (NSCA).
