Junction 21 - Voluntary Mentoring

Junction 21 is our Youth Offending Team's mentoring project.  The project trains members of the community to work with young people, aged 13 to 17, who are at risk of offending.

Volunteers who complete the training are able to work towards an OCN (Open College Network) level 2 qualification in mentoring skills.

On completion of the training the mentor is then matched with a young person for 12 months, meeting them once per week.

All volunteer mentors are fully supported and supervised by Junction 21 staff.

Volunteers also have the opportunity to offer their time in other areas of the Youth Offending Team after the completion of their training.

All Junction 21 volunteers will be CRB (criminal records bureau) checked and double referenced.  it is also policy that volunteers in recovery are at least 3 years clean and volunteers who have criminal convictions will have to complete a suitability interview with the preventions manager as some offences may stop people from working with young people.
