Community regeneration

We are working to make lasting improvements to the economic, social and environmental fabric of North Somerset.

In particular we are working with disadvantaged communities to improve quality of life and increase opportunities for local people.

North Somerset has attracted almost £5m of Single Regeneration Budget funding for regeneration projects in Pill and the south and central wards of Weston-super-Mare.

Partnerships formed to carry out these improvements include the Weston Regeneration Partnership and the Pill Strategy Group/Pill Community Foundation.

We are involved in a number of other schemes to tackle deprivation including projects to help people back into work such as ready4work and our partnership in the Healthy Living Centre in Weston.

We look at deprived areas and works to improve the quality of life for residents and have neighbourhood management plans to focus on individual sections of the community. This is helped by parish plans.

A major regeneration programme has started in Weston including Weston Vision and the Civic Pride Initiative with work also underway to redevelop key sites such as the Tropicana and Knightstone Island.
