Impact Assessments 2012-13

Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) are undertaken to demonstrate that the council has paid ‘due regard’ to the need to eliminate discrimination, promote equality and foster good relations in all aspects of its work.

As part of the council’s ongoing commitment to equality and diversity, managers are updating these EIAs to identify any further potential impacts of their proposals included in the Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP) on diverse or more vulnerable groups within our communities.

The initial EIAs identify a number of areas as having potentially high impact on diverse or vulnerable groups and this Summary Report (pdf, Jan 12, 94k) highlights the main issues in respect of these areas. Full details are set out in the individual EIAs below.

Progress to date

August 2011 All areas affected by proposals within the MTFP across the council prepared an initial EIA.
13 September 2011 Members informed of the EIA process, potential high risk areas were highlighted.
October 2011 The initial assessments that identified a potential medium or high impact on service users or staff were subject to an 'internal challenge' workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to further consider, strengthen and develop the information included in the EIA and ensure that mitigating actions had been identified.
14 November 2011 Members provided with a further update on progress.
November 2011 to January 2012 Consultation on EIAs took place.
January 2012 Final assessment published.

These EIAs are the updated versions that include the consultation information from the above process:
