We use equality impact assessments (EIAs) to identify
the potential impact of our policies, services and functions on our
residents and staff to make sure our services reflect the needs of
the community in North Somerset.
Equality impact assessments (EIAs) offer an opportunity for all
our teams to think about the impact of their work on local people,
as well as on their colleagues, to promote equality for all. EIAs
make sure that equality is placed at the centre of policy
development and review, as well as service delivery.
By carrying out these assessments, we also make sure our
services fulfil the requirements of anti-discrimination and
equalities legislation such as the Equalities Act 2010.
Carrying out equality impact assessments helps to improve policies,
strategies, procedures, functions, projects, reviews and
organisational change for the whole community and not just minority
groups.
