The Equality Act came into force on 1st October 2010. The
council is required to comply with the three general equality
duties contained within this Act, these are:
- Eliminate discrimination, harassment and
victimisation

- Foster good relations between people
The Equality Act requires organisations like the council to
publish information to demonstrate that it is considering equality
in the work that we do.
The information on this page will also help us to identify the
Equality Objectives we will publish by the 4th April
2012.
