Disability Equality Scheme

Our first-ever Disability Equality Scheme shows how we are planning to improve our services and promote equality for Disabled people.

The three-year action plan covers people with physical and sensory impairments, learning difficulties, mental health issues and those with cancer.

The final scheme was adopted in December 2006 following consultation with Disabled people about their access to our services and improvements they would like to see.

Those consulted highlighted difficulties accessing our buildings, problems with pavements and footpaths and concerns about the way we communicate as important issues.

As well as adopting the scheme we have also set up a steering group of Disabled people to help achieve these aims.

At the end of each year we will review our progress. You can download the latest Disability Equality Scheme Actions.
