The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) protects
Disabled people against discrimination and
harassment.
All our services are covered by this legislation with some
additional requirements.
The development of legislation to improve the access rights of
Disabled people is an ongoing process and covers the following five
main subject areas:
- Access to facilities, goods and services
- Buying or renting land or property
- Education
- Employment
- Transport
As an organisation we are required to take reasonable steps to
tackle physical features which act as a barrier to Disabled people
who want to access our services.
This may mean the removal, alteration or provision of a
reasonable means of avoiding physical features of a building which
make access impossible or unreasonably difficult for Disabled
people. This could include the following:
- Putting in a ramp to replace steps
- Providing larger, well defined signs for people with a visual
impairment
- Improving access to toilet or washing facilities

services and promote equality for Disabled people visit our
