We
are legally required to ensure all the public information we
provide is available in an accessible format.
The
Disability
Discrimination Act expects us, businesses and other
organisation to have printed material or other alternatives
readily available if it is reasonable and practical to do
so.
Common examples of
printed materials where alternatives would expected to be made
available include the following:
- Restaurant menus
- Public exhibition leaflets
- Leaflets which are always available and frequently
used
Common accessible
formats used to fulfill this requirement include the following:
-
Audio
tapes
-
Braille
-
Easy read
text
-
Large print
documents in 18-point fonts such as Ariel or
Helvetica
For further
information on what we are doing to make our information accessible
please refer to our Accessible Information and Communication
Guide.
We would also
recommend the guide to other organisations for their own use.
The guide is due
to be reviewed and updated in January 2007 with your views
welcome.
