All housing built within North Somerset
must be accessible to Disabled people.
For this to happen properties must be built to certain
basic standards and we apply our accessible housing standards to
both conversions and newly built properties.
Our aim is to ensure anyone is able to easily
adapt any property to meet their needs.
In accordance with our residential planning policies, we
recommend the use of the the Joseph Rowntree Foundation
Lifetime Homes Standards which you can download from this page.
If you are submitting a planning application for any form of
new, converted or refurbished housing you must include in your
submission a Design and Access Statement. You must explain how
you will meet each of the Lifetimes Homes 16 points.
