If someone dies abroad and you wish their body to
be returned to England or Wales then certain procedures must be
followed.
The death should be registered according to the local regulations
in the country where the person died and a death certificate
obtained.
You will need this certificate, or an authorisation for the
removal of the body from the country of death, in order to bring
the deceased back to England or Wales.
For funeral purposes you will also need an authenticated
translation of the certificate showing the cause
of death and a certificate of no liability to register.
This second document must be obtained from the registrar where the
funeral will take place.
