The Registration Service holds an historical record of
the births, deaths and marriages which have taken place in North
Somerset since 1837.
It cannot undertake major searches on your behalf but can
locate a specific record from details you supply.
We are unable to give you information from a record. If you wish
to see the contents of a record you must apply for a
certificate.
You can undertake research yourself. A fee is payable
for access to our index at our Register Office in
Weston-super-Mare.
You have to book your time using the index at a charge of
£18 for six consecutive hours of work.
There is also a charge of £7 for copies of marriage, birth and
death certificates.
Certain church marriages may not yet be included in our index
and the Register Office will be able to tell you whether
they hold records for marriages in a particular church.
Alternatively, if you have the correct details you can order copy
certificates and carry out searches via
the General Register
Office (GRO) website.
Burial and cremation records are not held by the Registration
Service but are available from other local sources. The library
service has local parish registers and other resources for
family history
research.
