A Naming Ceremony is a special occasion to
celebrate the arrival of a child into the family. It is an
opportunity to bring together people who will be a part
of your child's life, to witness you pledge to be the
best parents you can be and to have them share in the hopes
you have for your child's future.
A Naming Ceremony can take place on any day of the week at the
Register Office or other suitable venue and is conducted by an
experienced celebrant. Charges are shown on our
Registration Service fees page.
Parents are encouraged to make the ceremony individual and
personal and their celebrant is available to offer help and
suggestions when planning the occasion.
Supporting adults can be invited to make formal pledges to help
guide a child to adulthood and grandparents and other family
members can also take part by giving readings. A special
commemorative certificate is presented to mark the ceremony.
Many parents choose to make the ceremony part of a larger family
occasion perhaps following it with a celebratory meal or tea.
