Citizenship ceremonies

We hold special ceremonies to complete the process  of becoming a British citizen.

Candidates for citizenship are invited to attend citizenship ceremonies to complete the process of becoming British citizens.

Citizenship rights are approved and granted by the Home Office which contacts the Registration Service to organise the ceremonies.

During the ceremony candidates are welcomed into citizenship after the swearing or affirming of an oath and are then presented with a Certificate of Naturalisation.

We send out a letter inviting the candidates to attend one of our British citizenship ceremonies.

They take place around approximately every six weeks at the Town Hall in Weston-super-Mare and are free of charge. Each candidate can be accompanied by up to two guests.

Candidates for citizenship who cannot attend one of the regular ceremonies may be able to have a ceremony privately at the Register Office during the early evening or at the weekend. Currently the fee for this is £130.

For further information please contact our Registration Service.
