We make preparations to assist the emergency
services to cope with major disaster and to support the community
within North Somerset.
Through our Emergency Management Unit we concentrate
on preparing
for
large-scale incidents such as wide-scale flooding,
chemical incidents, train crashes and coastal pollution.
We plan, prepare and conduct a wide range of specialist
training courses for both local authority and other agency
staff.
This includes multi-agency exercises which
test both our own and other agency's emergency plans and
procedures.
We are part of
Avon and Somerset
Local Resilience Forum and work with partner organisations
in the area to prepare for emergencies.
Many parish councils across North Somerset have developed their own
emergency plans to identify the resources available in their
community. If your parish council has an emergency plan please tell
us about it using our
community emergency plan.
We are also responsible for identifying and minimising
threats to the operation of our business and information
technologies.
We also
promote this
business continuity management to the voluntary and
business communities across the district.
