A new contract arrangement for the council's support
services partner Agilisys will bring at least 80 jobs to North
Somerset next year.
Agilisys have announced they have signed a contract with
Citizens Advice to deliver consumer advice services on behalf of
the national charity. Agilisys will provide phone and online
support from four centres in England and Wales, one of which will
be in Weston-super-Mare.
The service will launch in April 2012, with the jobs co-located
with the council's contact centre, initially in Somerset House, and
then at the Town Hall once the remodelling work is completed next
summer.
Cllr Nigel Ashton, Leader of the Council, said: "I am delighted
that Agilisys have secured this contract which will bring over 80
additional jobs to Weston-super-Mare, with the potential for 30
more during the lifetime of the contract.
"This is excellent news for Weston and North Somerset, creating
more local employment opportunities and bringing services together
under one roof. It is an important early success story from our
partnership with Agilisys, and also for our Office Amalgamation
Programme."
