We have a duty to make sure businesses manufacturing,
preparing, cooking and serving food to the public in North Somerset
do so safely.
We do this by making sure food is prepared in a suitable
environment, those involved are trained in food hygiene
and procedures are in place to guarantee food safety.
We support these requirements by carrying out routine
inspections of more than 1600 local food businesses, and provide
food
hygiene training.
Our Food and Safety
team is available to help and give advice about
temperature
control, cleaning
and disinfection, pest control,
food
poisoning and accidents.
Our Trading
Standards team also makes sure food is safe to eat. They
check that food is labelled correctly, properly described and meets
quality standards. They can give advice on importing food and food
