North Somerset.
Our Community
Learning team works with people from disadvantaged communities
helping them to overcome practical, childcare and confidence
barriers and to take that all-important first step back into
lifelong learning.
New Deal is a key part of the
Government's strategy to get people back to work.
It gives people on benefits the help and support they need to
look for work, including training and job preparation.
The programme is part of the Welfare to Work strategy and
tailored to meet the needs of various groups and is delivered
locally through the government's employment services.
People with disabilities have the same rights as non-disabled
people in relation to employment and training opportunities within
North Somerset.
They have the same rights as non-disabled employees over issues
such as maternity leave and protection against unfair
dismissal.
Most educational institutions also operate policies which fully
integrate disabled people within mainstream education and training
courses.
