If you are an occupier of a business premises in North
Somerset you are liable to pay business rates.
All occupied and some unoccupied business premises across the
district are liable,
although relief is available
depending on your circumstances.
The amount you pay depends broadly on the rental value of
your property, which has been set by the Valuation Office Agency
(VOA), and is worked out using a formula which multiplies this
figure by a rate in the pound (rating multiplier).
Once this has been calculated you will be expected to pay
your bill unless
you appeal against the
charge. However, you must pay the figure stated on your
bill while any appeal is being considered.
For more information about non-domestic rates download our
explanatory notes (pdf, Mar 12, 59KB).
Business rates payments are due every month. There are
several
ways to
pay.
