Business rates are payable on all occupied and some
unoccupied business premises within North Somerset.
Also known as national non-domestic rates, we collect business
rates on behalf of the Government's
Communities and Local
Government (CLG) department.
The
Valuation Office
Agency (VOA) awards every business property with a
rateable value in order to establish the amount of business rates
payable.
If you think the rental value of your business property
in Weston-super-Mare has been affected as a result of the fire on
the Grand Pier on Monday 28 July, you can make an appeal to the
VOA. They will then decide whether your rental value has dropped
and if it has, we will reduce the business rates you
pay.
Depending on your circumstances and nature of your business you may
be entitled to relief.
At present our business rates operation is run by our
partners Liberata which will run the
service until 2009.
